Rise of the Microbrews

I like to look at relative performance of different assets to help me get a handle on how the markets are acting at any given point in time. Today I was researching a few beverage companies and decided to run the following comparison.
The chart below depicts the relative performance of Boston Beer Co's stock price versus Molson Coors'. Looks to me like investors/beer drinkers are choosing "great taste" over "less filling" these days.

Now Sam Adams (Boston's brand) is not my personal micro choice but, as a fan of microbrews in general, I like where this is headed. Hopefully, hometown favorite, Deschutes Brewery, is taking full advantage of this trend.

The Music Of The Market

This is pretty cool: the price changes of the Dow Jones Industrial Average have been translated here into musical notes with five notes for every trading day of the week. The number of trades each day has been translated into the dynamics of the piece. Click the image below to listen.

Not something I'd have in heavy rotation on my iPod (if I had one) but an interesting project, nonetheless.
